Christianity and Tattoos? Going to hell for them or not?

I am just wondering what everyone thinks about this. I know in the bible there is since mention of marking your body and how it is a temple. However, we allow premarital and promiscuity, which can be seen as an action against the temple of your body. In addition, at the time the bible was written, tattoos had a different meaning and culture to them. In addition, up to about 5-6 years ago, they did as well (being known as a GI/biker/convict/ thing).
