Loking for quilt pattern using circles.. not the yo-yo?

I seen someone make a quilt once using circles instead of squares. You take 3 layers of fabrics sew them together to make a circle then turn right side out. then u put 2 circles together and sew them in a straight line.. after so many the 1st circle turns into a square and you sew the flap pieces down to the front.. hard to explain.
